Have you recently become the happy owner of a feathered friend? Then you should be prepared and know how to recognize every possible reaction your pet might have.
“Why is my parrot shaking?” — this is a question bird owners often ask. There can be several reasons: some you can address on your own, while others require a veterinarian’s help.
Your parrot is adapting
We all get anxious when moving to a new place — and birds are no exception. Solution: give your parrot time to adjust, create a comfortable environment, and avoid unnecessary stress. In just a few days, your feathered friend will start enjoying their new home and your company.
Cold or chills
This is a natural response found in all living creatures.
Solution: prepare a desk lamp, a piece of thick fabric, vitamins, honey, and water. Position the lamp about half a meter away and direct it toward the bottom of the cage. Cover the cage with the fabric, leaving the front side open.
Vitamin deficiency
Vitamins for birds aren’t a marketing gimmick — they’re a necessity. In the wild, birds naturally replenish their vitamin levels by eating more than just seeds or grains. A balanced diet for a pet bird is the owner’s responsibility. Even the highest-quality feed may not contain all essential nutrients. Solution: consult a veterinarian — a specialist will recommend the right vitamin course and dosage.
Your parrot is scared
It doesn’t take much to frighten a bird — loud noises, sudden flashes, or even another pet trying to “make friends.” Some parrots are known to be afraid of soap bubbles or even a floor brush!
Illness
If you’ve ruled out all other causes and the problem persists, take your bird to a veterinarian. It’s important to act early to prevent serious illness.
